JTAC Instructor - Simulator Operator


Overview: Air Force Special Tactics Groups train, organize, and equip Special Tactics forces for worldwide deployment in support of the full range of Special Operations missions. Traditionally, Special Tactics Squadrons have organically supported their JTAC and Small Unmanned Aerial System (SUAS) program management. In order to meet current world-wide requirements Contractors will provide assistance in managing programs and producing mission ready JTAC and SUAS operators, instructors and evaluators. Support is required at a number of military installations in the US and Overseas. Locations include FL, GA, and NM.

Job Description: ODL Services is seeking applicant resumes in support of full-time contract support for AFSOC JTAC and SUAS programs. These positions will support JTAC Program Management, Instruction / Evaluation, Simulator and SUAS services to AFSOC Special Tactics units.  These positions are not deployed to combat zones.

Specific Tasks:

  • JTAC-I/Simulator Operation, JTAC Instruction, JTAC and SUAS simulator operations
  • Range scheduling and mission duties for range operation
  • Ability to accomplish JTAC Simulator minor software updates, load databases, create scenarios, accomplish line replaceable unit removal/replacement, run scripted software and queries 
  • Implement provided simulator scenarios, and develop and maintain the squadron’s CAS and SUAS simulator scenarios in accordance with doctrine and local guidance
  • Report simulator issues in accordance with STG guidance
  • Maintain proficiency in simulator operations, ability to calibrate and operate all assigned simulator equipment and operation of required scenarios
  • Participate in virtual and DMO training and exercises as required by squadron
  • Provide STG with simulator status, usage and issues on a monthly basis
  • Establish and maintain the unit JTAC academics, folders and program
  • Maintain JTAC, JTAC-I, and SIM qualifications 
  • As a JTAC-I, conduct initial JTAC training and upgrade training
  • When directed, attend conferences, symposiums and meetings to ensure program continuity
  • Maintain and update the unit JTAC/SIM currency tracker monthly
  • Provide JTAC, JTAC-I, and JTAC-SEE upgrade and proficiency training in the simulator
  • Readily adapt to and teach Battlefield Air Operations (BAO), JTAC mission equipment, SUAS, and simulator equipment reconfiguration, upgrade, and modernization
  • Operate a wide range of specialized equipment and vehicles to include Highly Mobile Multi- Wheeled Vehicle, BAO equipment, SUAS equipment, and communications equipment
  • Malfunction/Accident/Incident Response
  • Provide emergency markings, marshaling, and advisories for evacuation of injured personnel
  • Navigate day or night to and from the training area complying with local range procedures  
  • Conduct limited weather observations as required

Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Must have possessed a JTAC-Instructor rating
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years Active, Guard, or Reserve SOF JTAC experience performing JTAC duties.
  • Must possess a SECRET security clearance with eligibility to upgrade to TOP SECRET
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must have working knowledge of the organizational interface of military, local, state, and federal agencies as applicable to required JTAC and SUAS operations
  • Must be familiar with military command and control structures
  • Must possess a valid civilian driver’s license and be able to hold a valid military driver’s license for the military vehicle(s) to be operated
  • Have physical capability to lift at least a 60 pound container, perform JTAC and SUAS duties in both classroom and field conditions under extremes of heat, cold and inclement weather
  • Possess land navigation/map and compass skills sufficient enough to read and locate points of interest and targets using latitude/longitude, UTM and MGRS coordinates
  • Will be required to undergo an initial drug screening and random screening once employed

Desired Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Previously qualified JTAC-I / SEE.
  • Previously designated Chief JTAC-I and/or SEE
  • Previously held a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance
  • Previously served in a Special Tactics Squadron
